French Duo To Make Coachella Festival Debut Saturday, April 12 & Saturday, April 19
Hot on the heels of their debut Coachella performance this month, the French brother and sister duo Carbon Airways will follow their U.S. debut EP Black Sun (released March 2) with a brand-new EP You Walk Away. Due out April 22 on Cherrytree Records, the five-track release features new original music from the teenage electo-rock wunderkinds.

United by their mutual love of hard-hitting acts like The Prodigy and Ministry, siblings Engus and Eleonore Fernese of Carbon Airways joined sonic forces less than three years ago, aligning themselves with carbon as an organic life force and airways for the feeling of escape they get from their musical experimentation. With the You Walk Away EP, the duo serves up four brand-new tracks–all dark, frenzied and chaotic, and electrified bangers, plus their previous track “Black Sun” as a bonus.

The EP’s lead title track “You Walk Away” kick-starts the release into high gear, a grinding industrial electro cut made dancefloor-ready with synths and warping bass glowing beneath the duo’s pummeling noir production. “Gutter Punk” (featuring EXGF) combines younger sibling Engus’ raw electronic wizardry with his own rap stylings for a gritty yet infectious fusion of electro-punk and hip-hop. The third EP track, “When My Eyes Get Low,” will shake listeners to the core with sister Eleonore’s haunting Shirley Manson-esque vocals churning the song along on a wave of nonstop supercharged beats. “Entasis” lets listeners zone out to cosmic, spanning synths, eventually lowering down to Earth’s dancefloor with the gravity of a vicious, growling bassline. “Black Sun” is darkly ominous with dizzying synths and an unshakably hooky chorus lending an underground pop feel to their last EP’s title track. With You Walk Away, the duo showcases their artistry and vision, and the result is deeply moving, undeniably catchy, and insolently mature.
Carbon Airways already have five releases under their belt and have been remixed by the likes of Kill Paris and Betablock3r with their debut U.S. EP Black Sun. Following previous U.S. performances at HARD Summer and Ultra Music Festival, Carbon Airways will be returning stateside this Saturday, April 12 and Saturday, April 19 as one of three acts featuring both a male and female front to appear at Coachella (check out our article about the duo here, where you can find out their performance times as well.
