Debut Solo Album Audition Tapes Out Now on Dangerbird Records

T. Hardy Morris is proud to unveil the final take away video from the “Audition Tapes From Places In Peril” series via Esquire.com. In conjunction with the release of his critically praised debut solo album Audition Tapes, Morris and filmmaker/photographer Jason Thrasher traveled to 10 historic sites throughout Georgia to film live performance “take away” videos of each song on the album. All of these sites were chosen from the “Places In Peril” list, published annually by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation to draw attention to historic sites within the state threatened by demolition and neglect (Learn more).

The final video from the series is a performance of the song “Quit Diggin'”, filmed at St. Eom’s Pasaquan, an internationally acclaimed visionary art site consisting of six major structures-the oldest a redesigned 1885 farmhouse-painted concrete sculptures, and miles of painted masonry concrete walls (Learn More).

In the months surrounding the release of Audition Tapes earlier this summer, Morris has steadily unveiled videos from the Places in Peril series, helping to draw national attention to the Georgia Trust and the under threat historic sites within his home state. The videos have been featured on Paste, American Songwriter, Stereogum, CMT, Hufffington Post, Aquarium Drunkard, KCRW, Jambase, and even the official R.E.M. website to name a few. Last week the Georgia Trust announced the 2014 edition of their annual Places In Peril list.

Aside from the attention the Places in Peril video series has generated for historic Georgia sites, the album Audition Tapes has independently won wide acclaim from tastemakers across the music world. While Stereogum noted the “calming beauty” found on the record, Magnet Magazine praised it as “an album of subtle shifts and minimal arrangements, an LP that can elicit tension and yearning and release in the softest of strums.” Paste proclaimed “It will break your heart in a very sincere, wildly passionate way.” And American Songwriter described the music as “a raw, unfiltered view of an artist evolving and growing in front of our very eyes, setting the scene for repeat listens and years of enjoyment.”
