Meet Seattle’s Campfire OK and Get Ready for Their First Full-Length Album, When You Have Arrived
Seattle-based Campfire OK’s full length upcoming album, When You Have Arrived, is set for release Sept 17th on Fugitive Records. The highly recognized local band keeps true to the traditional Seattle sound with impactful harmonies and melodies embracing the dark, psychedelic significance of the record. The songs on When You Have Arrived present themselves in a sprightly, electro-pop manner; some tracks introduce romantic and vulnerable lullabies, while others dance between rhythmic intonations.
In the past year, Campfire OK ~ Mychal Cohen (vocals/piano/guitar), Andrew Eckes (banjo/guitar/trumpet), Brandon Milner (drummer), Aaron Huffman (bassist, formerly with Harvey Danger), and Zarni De Wet (vocals and piano) ~ has performed at The Bumbershot Music Festival, Capitol Hill Block Party, and Doe Bay. They have also been featured on NPR: Song of The Day and Seattle’s KEXP, and have been receiving much positive attention from the press:
“Campfire OK is one of those beautiful, restless entities that don’t stay in one place for too long, but still manage to write concise, focused songs. The band pushes the boundaries of the revival band stigma, incorporating subtle modern elements (synth swells and delay pedals) effortlessly atop the weathered antique frames of their songs.” ~ Seattle Weekly
“Campfire OK’s ‘Strange Like We Are’ grows as it goes, with handclaps and three-part harmonies culminating in powerful choruses.” ~ NPR: Song of The Day
On “Wishing You the Best,” the first single from When You Have Arrived, Cohen delivers his earnest plea (“I’m sorry if I was overbearing / But I didn’t mean it”) backed by the thunder of hand-claps and the spine-tingling sound of Eckes’ banjo. ~ KEXP 90.3fm Seattle, Song of the Day
Fresh off the road with Anberlin, Campfire OK ~ a band we predict is going to rapidly gain a huge following due in part to the songs themselves and in part to their extremely likable, approachable vibe as musicians (it’s hard to listen to the music and not imagine hanging out at a coffee shop…or around a campfire, for that matter…and becoming instant and lifelong friends with the entire band) ~ is gearing up for the next tour run in support of the new album. ‘Til you can catch them live, check out the official video for “Wishing You The Best” and the band’s self-made video for “My Dear Friends,” and visit campfireok.com (where you can see lots more videos, purchase tracks, and catch up on the band’s blog) and facebook.com/campfireok.
