Evoked’s New Self-Titled Album

By Seth M

Evoked1

Have you heard the band Evoked yet?? The first thing it evoked me to do was rip the head off a fuckin’ rabbit… For those easily offended , 1) you shouldn’t read anything I write and 2) It’s Easter weekend and the rabbit was a chocolate bunny so just relax, put down the phone, stop dialing PETA and go over to the band’s Facebook page to learn more about them. Go  HERE to check out their upcoming tour schedule.

Evoked has put out 10 tracks of serious metal music. How serious, you ask? Well, to give you an idea ~ Evoked has shared the stage with big name acts like as As I Lay Dying, Sevendust, Dope, Soil, Taproot, Straight Line Stitch, Diecast, Anew Revolution, and many others. If you know all or some of these bands, then you have an idea as to what type of music those 10 tracks, below, offer:

evoked1. Back To The Front

2. 90 Days Of Darkness

3. Whispering Death

4. Call To Arms

5. War Within

6. Slay’em All

7. With No End

8. The Pearl

9. Bleeding Heart

10. Grimm

Bands like Evoked aren’t usually my go-to-style of music  ~  just not my thing. I do, however, appreciate some of these types of bands, like Sevendust, so I can still listen objectively and tell you that there were some highlights within Evoked’s tracks. I wasn’t a huge fan of the vocals, which is typical for me with this genre of music. However, I thought there was some good guitar/instrumental work throughout these songs and enjoyed “The Pearl” as well as “Call to Arms”  and “Slay’em All.” (Click HERE to watch live footage of the band playing “Slay’em All” at The 7th Annual Dimebag Darrell Tribute Show.) “Bleeding Heart,” which was the mellowest of the tracks, offered the best vocal showing. If today’s heavy metal genre is what you are into click HERE  and for $10 Evoked can be yours.  Don’t forget to grab your chocolate bunny… I suggest DARK chocolate.
