AC/DC Announces North American Rock or Bust World Tour Dates!
For legions of AC/DC fans, myself included, today delivered some of the best music news ever.
The excitement started to mount this past Sunday, when the band that nothing seems able to stop gave an explosive performance of their current single, “Rock or Bust,” and their classic “Highway To Hell,” which kicked off the 57th annual Grammy Awards and was the Grammy-winning band’s first time performing on U.S. television in over 14 years. Next we found out that the band is confirmed to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 10th and 17th.
And then today the announcement we’ve been waiting for finally came: the North American dates for AC/DC’s Rock or Bust World Tour. The band (with Chris Slade on drums) will rock Canada and the US starting in August, about a month after the European leg of the tour wraps.
The band last toured to world from 2008-2010 with The Black Ice World Tour, playing to over 5 million fans in 108 cities in over 28 countries ~ and earning a Pollstar Award for Major Tour of the Year in 2010.
AC/DC’s most recent offering, Rock or Bust, was released on December 2nd, 2014 and immediately topped sales charts around the globe. The album’s first 2 singles ~ “Play Ball” and the title track ~ were instant additions to rock radio (with play requests to stations worldwide reaching insane numbers) and were featured in ad campaigns for major brands including Major League Baseball and Beats headphones ~ not really a surprise given that the band is one of the five top-selling bands in American music history.
But enough of the industry end of things, what matters most to us is that the guys have triumphed once again with a record that is pure, ass-kicking, high voltage rock ‘n’ roll done as only AC/DC can do it…and as they explain it best: “We’ve always been a true band. You won’t find one any truer. AC/DC will always be AC/DC. We just want to make the walls cave in and the ceiling collapse. Music is meant to be played as loudly as possible, really raw and punchy.”

The press did a damn good job of summing up the new material and the band’s inimitable style, too: Rolling Stone noted that “AC/DC remain hard rock’s masters” and Entertainment Weekly called the new album a “high-octane, party-hard collection of monster jams.” Boston Globe considers Rock or Bust the “most head-bangingly, fist-pumpingly enjoyable hard rock ever,” and NY Newsday says AC/DC “still sounds like rock and roll heaven.”
So after months of listening to Rock or Bust from start to finish at least five times a day and then seeing that sneak preview on the Grammys, the prospect of seeing them live ~ and it’s a safe bet I am not alone in this sentiment ~ is, well, pretty close to orgasmic.
Now here they are, AC/DC’s Rock or Bust World Tour North American dates ~ tickets for all go on sale via Ticketmaster at 10am February 16 with the exception of those for the Sept. 25 San Francisco show, which go on sale February 15.
