Red Zone Rider ~ Finally, a Band That Will Revive the Thunder of Decades Past
Long time guitar virtuoso Vinnie Moore has teamed up with vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Kelly Keeling and drummer Scot Coogan to form Red Zone Rider ~ and it took me exactly ten seconds of listening to the music on the trailer video for their upcoming self-titled release on Magna Carta Records to become a fan.
They’re Rainbow, Zeppelin, Maiden, Hagar, Whitesnake, MSG, Dio… bands with that instantly recognizable depth and power of sound ~ that epic quality that somehow found its way to our very core ~ that so few have been able to duplicate and that is sadly absent from today’s music. And although RZR could no doubt copy these legends’ every note and nuance flawlessly, they instead opted to respectfully bring the essence of all those live performances and albums from several of heavy music’s formative, most important decades into the present, remaining very mindful of the brilliance of “that sound” but creating one of their own; the result is the perfect balance of reminiscence/homage/progress/innovation that most definitely showcases each of their respective musical legacies and the chemistry that, if I were to hazard a guess, will very quickly take them from being described as “a group of super musicians” to being heralded as “the next supergroup.”
The proof is in the music, though, not my words, so head here to listen to more tracks, read additional information about the guys’ impressive [an understatement] musical backgrounds and collaborations and, when the album is released on Tuesday, September 16, purchase or download your copy.
Also check out RZR’s official Facebook page for photos and more links to their other social media sites…and give ‘em a break, for a band that joined Facebook yesterday, they’ve already got some great stuff posted…and what better way to welcome them to FB than to leave a Comment, Like the page, and Invite your friends to do the same.
