Dark Fortress Announce September Release of Venereal Dawn
German Black Metal veterans Dark Fortress will release their 7th studio album, Venereal Dawn, worldwide on September 1st, 2014 in Europe and Australia/NZ and on September 2nd in North America through Century Media Records.
Three years in the making, Venereal Dawn, a concept album in nine chapters, takes the band’s signature rich musical spectrum further than ever. Always aiming for an innovative equilibrium amongst hellish black metal, sophisticated melancholy, atmospheres of metaphysical horror and a deep occult spirituality, Dark Fortress created an album that will be a significant addition to their already extensive back catalogue. They have never taken the challenge of making a new album lightly, and again took a radically uncompromising attitude in concept and composition. They penned many songs since 2010’s Ylem and discarded many, too, in order to make sure the new material would be able to exceed previous releases in quality, relevance and authenticity.
Increasing scheduling conflicts with the members’ other bands and jobs, as well as the colossal number of hours that this endeavor required, had forced the band to postpone the release a few times over recent years ~ but finally, at the end of an exhausting recording session in late 2013, the band chose 9 songs for what they hope will become a landmark album to commemorate their 20 year anniversary.
Expect epic song structures, mighty sonic cathedrals, virulent and sinister magic and lots of unexpected twists and turns as the band drags you screaming and headbanging once again through the abysmal roller coaster that is their universe.

It was a longer road to travel than they had hoped, but the journey’s result is undeniable: Dark Fortress is back.
