If you’ve never attended Disc Jam before (although its inaugural year was 2011 ~ and even as a new endeavor, it was a great time thanks to owner/founder Tony Scavone who always seems to know exactly how to appeal to a crowd, no matter how diverse its tastes are), here’s a bit more about just what a fantastic time you’re in for…this festival really does define what summer should be all about.

Two stages will deliver non-stop music from early in the day to well into the night. After the headlining acts have wowed you and you’ve taken a bit of a break to grab a bite to eat or to just enjoy hanging out in the sunshine, your attention will go right back to of amplifiers and speakers cranking the volume across the concert field. Silent Disco allows the music to continue without the sound…it’s an art form you literally have to see to believe.  Before any of the music starts, though, early morning group yoga sessions and wellness workshops will help get those sore legs and backs feeling their best for the long days of dancin’, discin’, and hoopin’ ahead. Hey, it’s important to stretch and center before tackling so much fun!

The Silent Disco we mentioned just not doin’ it for you? No prob (although at least give it two or three minutes of your time, just so that you can say you’ve experienced it) ~ Disc Jam is all about variety.  There will also be a “secret’” Acoustic Stage set up in the heart of the campground for a completely different late-night vibe out under the stars. Think how fantastic it will be, listening to bluegrass, folk, and other acoustic styles after the sun has set, hanging out with your friends with your campsite waiting for you (not that you’re going to want to turn in early!) just down the hill.

And why should cool parents and their kids never be able to attend the same festival? Not so at Disc Jam ~ once again, there will be a ton of kids’ activities ~ including free face painting, a stilt walker, a children’s art center, and, to make Father’s Day that much more memorable, a few additional treats and surprises on Sunday ~ that will keep the little ones safely busy while mom and dad lie out a blanket and relax.  (Note:  obviously, kids are more than welcome at Disc Jam ~ if they’re under 12, they must be accompanied by an adult, but they get in FREE! Lots of families pack up the whole family for the road trip and spend the day or the entire weekend, so your kids will have a built-in group of peers to hang out with when you arrive!)

Speaking of Disc Golf, if you haven’t had the opportunity to play the on-site course yet, you need make sure you do the weekend of the Jam (and if you’re still in the dark about what disc golf in, then you definitely need to catch up on one of the most popular summer pastimes around ~ with any luck, one or more of your friends is already into it and will explain it to you, but if not ~ can’t believe we’re sending you to Wikipedia ~ here some info on it)! Hyland Disc Golf Course is hands down the area’s top course, featuring a great mix of everything from wooded shots to big bombers that take you through the picturesque apple orchard.

Unlike many major festivals, Disc Jam does not offer VIP ticket options that keep people separated by “status.”  Everyone ~ patrons, big name and up-and-coming performers alike, staff members, parents, volunteers, press, and even the security team ~ all hang out together enjoying the clean vibes, camaraderie, and entertainment.  Each year has brought more and more members into this family, and year 4 ~ already with a larger line-up of performers and artists ~ will surely see even more new faces in the crowd…but they won’t feel new for long, as the Jam Fam will make them feel right at home from the minute they arrive.

Kids are more than welcome at Disc Jam and are FREE under 12 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. We have a number of families that come for the day or spend the weekend with us so don’t worry about packing up the entire fam for the road trip!
