Hands All Over Do Justice to Maroon 5
OK, I’m not going to try easing into this confession, I’m just going to come right out and say it: this lover of hard rock and heavy metal cannot resist the music of Maroon 5. There, now you all know. Judge me if you will, but I suspect more of you than not share my same affinity for these titans of pop. C’mon, the band knows how to write and perform some of the sexiest, catchiest pop tracks ever.
So if you are a [closet or otherwise] Maroon 5 fan, we’ve got a treat for you ~ the Northeast’s Hands All Over, a tribute band to my guilty…no, make that proud, pleasure.
Take a look and listen to them playing some of Maroon 5’s greatest hits live HERE.
The band ~ Eric Nicastro – bass and backing vocals, Greg Varatta – drums and backing vocals, Chris Turchetti – keys, Jon Letourneau – guitar and backing vocals, Rudy D’Agostino – vocals and guitar ~ are pretty much pros as nailing the sound and energy of one of the world’s most successful live and recorded bands. They recreate all the top ten hits, including “Moves Like Jagger” and “Love Somebody,” as well as arena ballads like “She Will Be Loved,” and perform them note for note with dynamic segues taken directly from Maroon 5 live shows. Hands’ full set list is:
Pay Phone
Makes Me Wonder
Lucky Strike
Sunday Morning
If I Never See Your Face
Won’t Go Home With Out You
Harder To Breath
Never Gonna Leave This Bed
The Sun
One More Night
Hands All Over
Misery
This Love
She Will Be Loved
Day Light
Stereo Hearts
Moves Like Jagger
Love Somebody
Now don’t get me wrong, Hands All Over (even the name captures that delicious sexy Maroon 5 vibe, doesn’t it?) are new to the scene and although more times than not the entire band is dead-on with their recreations of the tracks (and special props to frontman Rudy D’Agostino for sounding so much like Adam Levine 99% of the time that if you close your eyes, you’d swear Adam were on stage ~ and as anyone, fan or not, knows, some of the vocals call for significant range and Adam’s voice does more than a few unconventional “moves,” which Rudy has obviously studied and mastered), my only comment is that the group as a whole needs just a bit more confidence and swagger, but that will come quickly.
Hands All Over does justice to the variety of flavors ~ funk, pure pop, disco pop, harmonies, even some good ol’ fashioned dirty rock – n – roll ~ that Maroon 5 incorporates into their music, and they know how to work a stage and an audience.
Come see Hands All Over at Newport Grand Event Center on July 5, 2014, and get ready to have a blast.
