Fear

Opus Underground in Salem, MA was rocked and electrified this past Thursday night (May 7th) when Reggae/rock/yardcore heavy hitters Fear Nuttin’ Band ~ riding high on two albums that debuted at #2 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and tours that took them through the East and West Coasts…and aren’t over yet…stopped in to deliver an intimate yet high octane performance. Making the whole night even sweeter was special guest Mike Francis from Soul Rebel Project, who joined the guys to help kick off their spring tour; in fact, this was the band’s kickoff show for the tour in support of  the release of Vibes Love Revolution, their newest album (now available on iTunes).    To say FNB has a lot of energy would be a major understatement; close your eyes and the massive sound the six member group creates could easily be mistaken for that of a 10-12 piece band any day of the week! They’ve perfected a style that is all their own, pulling influences from each band member.  If you’ve never heard their music, the best way I can describe it is…well,  it’s what it would sound like if Shaggy, Bob Marley, Tool and Wu Tang had a child who grew up and decided to make music. It’s hard hitting, it’s well written, and it’s incredibly well-executed. The energy and appreciation coming from the band was, as it always the case at FNB shows, equaled by that of the fans (who packed Opus to capacity), making for an unbelievable night.

Fear 1The band was kind enough to present me with a copy of the album and it’s been on repeat in my car for the past week…and counting! With clear messages of keeping things real, promoting unity, and valuing honesty, it’s obvious this band believes in and creates their music from their very core.  Fear Nuttin’s tour will end on the West Coast with their participation in Caliroots, the largest modern day reggae-based festival. My suggestion? If you haven’t experienced Fear Nuttin Band live yet, try to catch them next time they’re in your neck of the woods (see list of tour dates below) because they are clearly blazing paths ~ and in the meantime, read up on the Springfield, MA band here, check out the links below, and enjoy these photos from their amazing performance at Opus!
