HEAVY MONTREAL’s 7th YEAR!

HEAVY MONTREAL, presented by Molson Canadian and to be held once again at Parc Jean-Drapeau, is proud to announce the amazing lineup of the 2015 festival, which runs August 7, 8 and 9.  In 2014, HEAVY MONTREAL brought together 75,000 fans of heavy music and left no doubt in anyone’s mind why the festival has become a major event that, although held in Montreal, attracts an international audience and major kudos from attendees to press alike. Take one look at the lineup and you’ll know that this 7th edition is going to be just as spectacular as past years’, if not more so!

NOW 3 DAYS AT PARC JEAN-DRAPEAU

More successful each and every year, HEAVY MONTREAL is proud to announce that the festival will now be held over 3 days at Parc Jean-Drapeau…that’s one more day to enjoy the best bands in hard rock and metal in the idyllic surrounding of the Parc.

We’ve already announced the return of legendary band Faith No More and the second appearance of Slipknot at Heavy, and earlier today, we confirmed that Alexisonfire is also part of the lineup, playing HEAVY as part of a series of 7 festivals they’ll be performing at this summer. This limited engagement marks the first time the band has performed together since they briefly reunited for a worldwide 10th anniversary tour in 2012. American band Korn will hit the stage and perform their first studio album, Korn, as well as some of their greatest hits. Veteran Iggy Pop will just be Iggy and offer up a true, anything-goes punk show ~ just the way we like ‘em! And speaking of punk, NOFX will also hit the stage at HEAVY, and Marky Ramone, one of the Ramones’ founding members, will perform the band’s biggest hits alongside singer Andrew W.K. You can also count on Billy Talent bringing the hard rock and two bastions of metal in the 2000s, Bullet For My Valentine and Lamb Of God, to blow the crowd away.

As you can tell just from the few names we’ve mentioned above, the festival keeps things “Heavy” while still providing an incredible variety of performers and genres, making sure there’s something for everyone…as long as you like your music hard and heavy and live for getting wild and sweaty with your fellow fans!  But since we did only mention a few names, now it’s time to reveal the full line-up as it stands today (if you can believe it, there will be even more additions to the 3 day festival announced soon!):

RFID BRACELETS

For the second year, HEAVY MONTREAL will be using a radio-frequency identification (RFID) access control system on-site. The bracelets equipped with an RFID chip help in controlling access on site and preventing ticket fraud. And not only do the bracelets help HM keep the festival running as smoothly as it does, but they are also super-convenient for the audience members wearing them ~ just a swipe of the wrist across an entry/exit box and you’re all set!  Plus, there will again be lots of surprises with Mission: Heavy, which will allow fans to use their bracelets in fun ways throughout the festival grounds; stay tuned for more details!

Many affordable accommodation options are offered to festivalgoers visiting us from outside the city this year: the Carrefour Sherbrooke (2 or 4 person room), the Centre Sheraton (2 person room) and the Montreal Delta Hotel (2 person room). For more information about the accommodation packages, please click HERE.

If you’re not excited about Heavy Montreal after seeing the line-up, well, you’ve lost the right to call yourself a fan of heavy music and summer festivals done right (HM is presented by Evenko, and those folks are at the top of their game and make sure even the tiniest details are perfect for bands, audience members, and press)…but if, like all of us at FlashWounds, you can’t wait for those three days in August to get here, start making your plans to attend Heavy NOW…and check back here often for announcements of even more bands joining in the fun and for the daily lineups to be posted.
