Above & Beyond Ring in 2015 in Sydney, Australia With Midnight “Push The Button” Moment

Above and Beyond2

Above & Beyond kick started Sydney’s New Year’s with a very special “Push The Button” moment when band members Paavo Siljamaki and Tony McGuinness picked two fans, who happened to be twin sisters, to join them onstage as they counted down to midnight and dropped their anthem “Blue Sky Action” in front of 6000 revelers. The band has posted a video to their YouTube channel, just in time to ring in 2015 with their friends in Europe and North America. In advance of the sold-out show at Hordern Pavillion, the question of which track the band would play at midnight had been the subject of frenzied speculation among Above & Beyond fans after leading Australian bookmaker Sportsbet began taking bets on the most likely contenders. In the end, the band opted for their biggest release of 2014, but added an unexpected twist by inviting the twins up to help with the countdown.

“Push the Button” is an integral part of the Above & Beyond experience; fans go to great lengths to attract the attention of the group with homemade signs, banners and costumes, hoping they might be the ones picked from the crowd. It’s an emotionally-charged moment at every show.

Above & Beyond also recently gave their fans a Christmas treat by releasing the long-awaited recap video from the trio’s two sold-out acoustic shows at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, and you can watch it here
