It’s no secret that we at FlashWounds ~ not to mention throngs of fans across the globe ~ consider Volbeat to be one of the top five bands setting stages around the world on fire these days; we’ve followed them from when the reaction to mention of their name was “Who?” (when they first formed in 2000 in Copenhagen) through their five studio albums and two live offerings and most recently through their co-headlining tour with Five Finger Death Punch (which has been drawing near capacity crowds in arenas and earning Volbeat the highest kudos from the press and audience members alike) ~ when the reaction was a little closer to complete insanity and adoration ~ and our appreciation and respect for their talents (not to mention how modest, hard-working, and approachable they’ve remained despite huge success) has only grown with time.

Anthrax at Heavy Montreal
So when we say it’s our pleasure to announce that the band will be headlining a tour this coming spring with the legendary Anthrax serving as direct support and Crobot opening the show, we mean it. Volbeat ~ Michael Poulsen (vocals/guitar), Anders Kjølholm (bass), Jon Larsen (drums), and former Anthrax/The Damned Things guitarist Rob Caggiano (who produced the current album with longtime Volbeat co-producer Jacob Hansen) ~ is a practically peerless band but if following them over the years has taught us anything, it’s that they are not satisfied with simply being extraordinary ~ somehow, they have always found a way to improve upon some element of their craft, delivering on each tour performances that continue to elevate them ever closer to EARNED superstardom. Their choice of bands for this upcoming tour shows that they appreciate a similar devotion to music in others and recognize both undeniable staying power and talent that is, much like their own, quickly becoming a significance presence on the scene.
Crobot at Rock on the Range
A pre-sale goes live on October 29 at 10am local time in all markets and can be accessed via the band’s website. On Halloween, general on-sale begins at 10am in all markets excluding Grand Forks (9am) and both Oshawa and Ottawa which will go live at noon. Their return to North America in 2015 will feature multiple Canadian dates, alongside appearances coast to coast in the U.S. The itinerary begins on April 24 in Denver, CO at the 1STBANK Center.

Volbeat’s most recent release, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, has sold more than 300,000 copies in the U.S., alongside hundreds of thousands of digital singles. The title has been certified platinum in their home country of Denmark, alongside Germany and Austria, with gold sales in Finland and Sweden. The album has also been certified gold in Canada. This past year, the Danish quartet received their first GRAMMY nomination in the “Best Metal Performance” category for “Room 24″ (Volbeat f/ King Diamond) and won Germany’s Echo Award for “Best International Alternative Act.” Recently, “A Warrior’s Call” from Beyond Heaven / Above Hell was certified gold in the U.S. for sales of 500,000 units by the RIAA. Over the next several months the band will continue to work on their anticipated new studio album (a fact which, if doing so wouldn’t completely compromise my professionalism, would get a totally fan-girl “YAY!!!” and perhaps even a little happy dance).
