Unique Circus Electronica: Singularity Blends EDM and Traditional Circus Show
Considered the only show of its kind in the world, Circus Electronica: Singularity ~ think Electric Daisy Festival meets Cirque du Soleil ~ will be touring the US in October
The MuseBox today announced the debut national tour of Circus Electronica: Singularity, the only known live show to combine modern electronic dance music (EDM) with a traditional European-style circus. Featuring a full electronic score composed by Brooklyn visionary Ben Talmi, Circus Electronica: Singularity will be performed in eleven markets this October. An all-ages show, Circus Electronica: Singularity manifests on stage the key tenets of electronic music, mixing and remixing styles and ideas into a genre-hopping electronic circus experience that is greater than the sum of its parts. More information is available on the show’s official website.
Circus Electronica: Singularity’s soundtrack is a refreshing departure from the standard EDM festival fare. Crafted at Talmi’s Virtue And Vice Studios in Brooklyn, Circus Electronica: Singularity represents a bold step forward in electronic music production by taking audiences on a journey that explores the relationship between humans and the computers they are dependent on. The focus is on Oni, a girl who wakes to consciousness and realizes she has been transported to a world inside the Machine. There she comes face to face with the Arbiter, who escorts her through the Inner Circuitry and forces her to confront some of modern life’s essential questions: What makes us human? At what point, augmented by our own inventions, does a human become something more?
Circus Electronica: Singularity is Talmi’s latest work. The 80-minute electronic composition explores the sounds of classical samples with glitched-out analog synth sequences, as well as live guitar work. Talmi has composed a wide scale of musical works, including impressionistic rock albums with the band Art Decade, folk solo albums, and orchestral arrangements for national touring acts, including Manchester Orchestra, Wild Nothing, The Wyld, and David Monks (Tokyo Police Club).
