Maximum The Hormone To Stage October North American Appearances at Knotfest and in New York City at The Best Buy Theater
Appearance in NYC Marks First Headline Show in U.S.
Japanese rock band Maximum The Hormone ~ UE- CHANG (Bass), DAISUKE-HAN (Vocals), NAO (Drums / Vocals) and MAXIMUM THE RYOKUN (Guitar / Vocals) ~ will make two appearances in North America this fall. First, they’ll perform on the second day of Knotfest USA (read FlashWounds’ complete article about Knotfest here), October 25 (the band had already announced that they’ll be performing at Knotfest Japan 2014, which will take place at Makuhari Messe in November), at the San Manuel Amphitheater in California, and then the band will take the stage for their sole U.S. headlining appearance of the year at New York City’s Best Buy Theater on October 27.
Over the past year, the band has been active touring overseas; from September, 2013 through April, 2014, they staged 56 shows in the Yoshu Fukashu Tour supporting their July release titled 5th. The album marked the first new repertoire from the studio issued in six years. Earlier in 2013, the band appeared at Ozzfest Japan alongside Black Sabbath, Slipknot and Tool. Throughout MTH’s career, they have achieved great success on the European continent and across Asia, and their rare appearances in the US ~ the last of which was in 2008 for a national tour with Dropkick Murphys ~ each leave behind a new group of North American fans as well.
MTH’s music has struck a deep connection with audiences across the globe, and is best defined as an amalgamation of a fierce, heavy style intertwined with poppier, catchy melodies, resulting in a unique sonic marriage. The Ryo-kun’s lyrics can seem meaningless at times, but he works deftly within metaphor and sarcasm frequently, intentionally cloaking the band’s messages. The words are mostly in the Japanese language, sung within well-constructed arrangements that are very rhythmic and smooth. The band is peerless in the Japanese music scene and any new work they release consistently lands at the top of the sales charts. With the exception of a break in 2010 to accommodate drummer Nao’s pregnancy, MTH has remained relentlessly active and creatively productive for years.
