Vice.com Announces “The Jim Norton Show”
Comedian, radio personality, actor, and bestselling author premieres his new mini-series talk show on VICE.com; featured guests will include Mike Tyson, Dana White and Freeway Rick Ross.
Show premieres on VICE.com Wednesday, July 23rd ~ Vice and Norton plan to shake up the traditional late-night talk show format with their irreverent, uncensored styles.
Episodes, all shot before a live audience, will incorporate stand-up bits, guest comedians, and in-depth, uncut interviews with a variety of notable personalities. Norton will explore and debate a sprawling range of topics from spanning personal to newsworthy issues and everything in between. Take a look at a couple of teasers:
Unlike highly produced shows, “The Jim Norton Show” will have an unstructured feel that lends itself to the unpredictability on set. Explained Norton, “I wanted to do a talk show that reminded me of the old school ones I loved as a kid, without all the fake enthusiasm and sound bite-driven conversations. I also wanted to do a monologue that represented my stand up sensibilities and not have to worry about it being ‘family friendly.’ Because I’m not family friendly. [Also] Vice didn’t censor any language or ideas at all, they were amazing creatively; I got to do exactly the show I wanted to do. Which also sucks, because if it fails, it’s completely my fault.”
Eddy Moretti, Vice’s Chief Creative Officer, added, “Jim Norton is a truly wicked stand-up comedian. His live appearances are hilariously visceral experiences, sort of like being skinned alive on ecstasy. When he came to Vice to do a talk show I said, ‘Why the hell not. This I’ve got to see.’ And having seen it I can now tell you, this you’ve got to see.”
In recent years, Norton has emerged as one of today’s most versatile and unique voices in comedy. He is a regular on The New York Times bestselling list, has sold out theaters nationwide as a standup comedian, and has collaborated with everyone from Jimmy Kimmel to Jimmy Fallon to Amy Schumer.
