Zodiac Reveals Cover Artwork for Upcoming Album
Sonic Child Set for Sept. 30 release in North America
Prolific German rockers Zodiac ~ whose infectious mix of blues and classic rock has been lauded by Revolver Magazine as a “…nod to ’70’s riff-lords from Deep Purple to Zeppelin…” ~ will issue Sonic Child, their third full-length release in just 28 months, in North America on Sept. 30. The follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed A Hiding Place (named “Album of the Month” by Rock Hard late last year) was also recorded at Megaphon Tonstudios with producer Martin Meinschafer. The band will be unveiling a new song in the coming weeks.
For now, the band have revealed the album’s enticing cover art (below) by Sebastian Jerke (Audrey Horne, Long Distance Calling), commenting, “The idea behind it is actually very simple: As a child, you hear music in its purest form. You do this without caring about a certain image, without looking at the band pictures, without thinking about fancy clothes or any other parameters; you just listen to the music and create your own vision of it. Nowadays, it seems for many bands that music isn’t the most important element anymore. That’s why we wrote a concept album about the love for music in general. It is our Sonic Child, and we hope you’ll cherish it as much as we do. And with such a talented artist as Sebastian Jerke, we managed to find the perfect partner to visualize our thoughts. Here we go!”
Formed in 2010 when Long Distance Calling drummer Janosch Rathmer and guitar wizard Nick Van Delft teamed with Rocketchief member Stephen Gall (guitars), Zodiac ~ who have toured Europe with the likes of Spiritual Beggars, The Sword and Graveyard ~ will be hitting the road again this fall on a headlining run as well as making select festival appearances.
