KIX Will Officially Begin to Rock Your Face Off Starting August 5…

KIX album

Back in April, we told you that KIX had just signed with Loud and Proud records and that, in addition to a string of tour dates, they were about to unleash upon the world their first album in almost two decades (very exciting for a proud fan of KIX ~ their music and their antics ~ from the beginning of their career).  Read the whole article here.

What made the news about the new album even sweeter ~ and has built up quite a bit of enthusiasm for its release ~ is that it features most of the band’s original line-up:  Steve Whiteman (vocals), Brian “Damage” Forsythe (guitar), Ronnie “10/10″ Younkins (guitar), Jimmy “Chocolate” Chalfant (drums), with the exception of Mark Schenker (bass).

With a smile like that, you KNOW you're in for a fun album!

Let the official countdown begin, as Rock Your Face Off is comin’ at us on August 5…the perfect antidote to those unbearable dog days of summer…KIX = party, friends, and nothin’ but fun, and that’s just what summer calls for. Time to get your “Kix.”

Rock Your Face Off has everything that first won them over a major fanbase:  a raucous and roaring, display of rock ‘n’ roll revelry.  The first single, “Love Me With Your Top Down,” was recently released to radio and online retail outlets and like guitarist Brian “Damage” Forsythe (left) says, “When we first played ‘Love Me With Your Top Down’ live just a few months ago, it went over like gangbusters with the fans.  It’s a catchy little tune with classic KIX flavor, a perfect choice for the first taste of the record.”  So as big a hit as it is live, take that effect, multiply it by the number of station who have it in heavy rotation and the number of listeners who can’t stop requesting it, and there’s your definition of a hit.

Kix Top DownWith Rock Your Face Off, we get 100% true KIX ~ no trying to be what they’re not, no trying to do anything but what comes naturally.  “It’s still hot women, fast cars, and great moments,” describes vocalist/wildman Whiteman.  “I want everybody to end up on their feet, whether they’re working out or stuck in rush hour traffic.  This is a release, something to lift your spirits when you need it.  You can party to this one.”  And Steve, party to it we shall, and we’ll be raising a glass to you and the rest of the band when we do.

KIX gracefully (but don’t mistake that for quietly or subtly…no, not KIX!) eased back into the public consciousness in 2008.  After sold-out hometown gigs, the quintet hit the stage at Rocklahoma in front of over 20,000 people, venturing out of the Mid-Atlantic for the first time in 13 years.  The band was voted by many music websites and attendees as Best Performance at the festival, where they played alongside Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Tesla, Queensryche, Ratt, and more (and if you’ve seen KIX live, you understand the vote…they are madmen, total, delightful, rock n roll lunatics on stage).

KIX logoAfter capturing their electric reunion (it’s always a good sign when a band is having as much fun as their audience!) on 2012’s Live In Baltimore CD & DVD, watching it, and realizing that damn, there was still a lot of kick in KIX that needed to be shared with the fans, the band agreed to enter the studio once again.  In order to deliver an album that was a proper return to the “scene” and one didn’t put restrictions on their inimitable style, they enlisted the talents of producer Taylor Rhodes (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne), with whom they had last collaborated on 1991’s Hot Wire.  Also, for the first time in the group’s history, each member contributed to the writing process, fostering an extremely creative and free environment in the studio…and as you’ll hear on Rock Your Face Off, the collaboration made their always charismatic spirit even bigger, better, and bawdier…
