Decibel loo 2

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Decibel Magazine will host two exclusive, blowout concerts on Saturday, October 18th in Brooklyn and Manhattan! The first show will take place at the Best Buy Theater with Amon Amarth, Sabaton and Vallenfyre kicking off the party; afterwards, Skeletonwitch and Evoken will headline Saint Vitus Bar (with another very special guest soon to be announced).

This special event marks Vallenfyre’s first stateside appearance, so be sure to attend! Ticket details will be posted on Friday (May 30).

Splinters albumVallenfyre  — Greg Mackintosh (Paradise Lost) ~ vocals and lead guitars, Hamish Glencross (My Dying Bride) ~ rhythm and lead guitars, Scoot (Doom, Extinction Of Mankind) ~ bass, Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates, Paradise Lost, The Haunted) ~ drums — will be playing in support of their recently released sophomore effort, Splinters. For a preview of the album, the video for the crushing title track can be viewed here. To purchase Splinters, please visit iTunes for a digital copy or CM Distro for a variety of physical formats.

fragileBest known as a founding member of UK gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost, Greg Mackintosh transformed the anger and sadness ensuing the loss of his father into Vallenfyre’s death/doom/crust debut, A Fragile King (2011). This heartfelt and cathartic release is now followed-up by the even more abrasive and extreme second full-length, Splinters. Inspired by the likes of Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Autopsy, Antisect, Discharge, Nihilist, early Napalm Death, early Bathory, and Conflict, Vallenfyre continues to dig deep into the roots of extreme music ~ yet due to Greg’s infallible song-writing skills, as well as the crushing sound courtesy of producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Black Breath, Beastmilk), Splinters is far from mere nostalgia.

Read on for a few international reviews of the critically acclaimed Splinters:

“The writhing guitar melody, the truly titanic chugging, the cavernous vocals, the obliterating drumwork – it all combines to exert a powerful, primal appeal, and an atmosphere drenched in bleakness.” ~ No Clean

“…a crushing, vitriolic thing full of grief and rage.” ~

“…absolutely ruthless.” ~ Heavy Blog Is

“Its masterful melding of Hellhammer / Celtic Frost, Nihilist / Entombed, Autopsy, Discharge and various other influences deliver a rare treat for lovers of old-school death metal and crustpunk.” ~ Metal Hammer UK

“Vallenfyre squelch their way through fetid piles of deathly riffs and growls with more genuine morbidity than most of the young pups who weren’t born when Gregor was first hacking up these sorts of riffs.” ~ Kerrang!
