Classic Entertainment & Sports put on another hard-hitting MMA event for the Twin River Casino fans last Friday — and the crowd was even more into the action than usual which added to the excitement. The show was a bit slow to get underway due to unfortunate circumstances (more on that later), but when the action finally started it didn’t disappoint.

(Scroll down for full fight results.)

Let’s cut to the chase: The main event was over quickly but ended in spectacular fashion, with CES MMA featherweight champion Rob Font easily earning “Knockout Of The Night” bragging rights with a resounding right hand to lay Tristan Johnson flat as the crowd roared their approval.

But there was plenty of action beforehand. Some other highlights included a great comeback in the opening bout, with Ralph Johnson taking the first round with solid striking but Brandon Chagnon getting a nice rear naked choke early in the second to submit Johnson.

A very happy Pete Rogers earned his first career ‘W’ by catching Franklin Isabel with a kick to the head to send him to the ground and laying down a barrage of strikes from the top until Isabel tapped out.

Rico Disciullo got off to a rocky start against Jordan Espinosa by having a point deducted for an illegal kick to the head, but clearly won all three rounds to earn the unanimous decision.

CES President Jimmy Burchfield Sr. with Andre Soukhamthath

Before the main card got underway, CES President Jimmy Burchfield Sr. walked into the cage with Andre Soukhamthath (who was scheduled to fight Joshua Killion in the co-main event) to explain that Killion had been arrested on an outstanding warrant minutes before the evening started. Another bout on the undercard, Bobby Flynn vs. Tundee Odumuso, was also scrubbed at the last minute due to health concerns.

Tateki Matsuda earned a hard-fought decision over Matt Doherty in a back-and-forth battle — great fight.

The new co-main event ended up being a quick one, with unbeaten local favorite Eric Spicely catching David Jordan in a tight guillotine choke in just over 90 seconds for the finish.

Don’t miss the next MMA event from CES, on June 27th at the Twin River Casino — stay tuned here for all the details!
