Shining (NOR) Announces North American Tour With Dillinger Escape Plan

Dillinger

On the heels of their recent Spellemann Prize nomination for their critically-lauded 2013 release One One One, Norwegian industrial/blackjazz group Shining are thrilled to announce that they will return to North America this spring to tour alongside The Dillinger Escape Plan. Dates are listed below.

Vocalist/guitarist/saxophonist Jørgen Munkeby commented, “Ever since I was floored by Dillinger’s Miss Machine album 10 years ago, they have been at the very top of my list of bands I’d love to tour with. The band has been a great inspiration to Shining, especially for their tireless work in establishing their own distinct and unique sound. Also, all four bands on the tour bill are a great musical match, and audiences can look forward to very special and energetic nights. We’re greatly looking forward to this tour!”

Shining recently completed their first-ever North American tour, which Time Out New York reviewed as “blisteringly intense.” The band has also seen on various tours and festivals throughout Europe, including Norway’s Øya Festival, where ~ according to Q Magazine ~ the band drew the festival’s biggest crowd.

Described as a “corrosive and creative hybrid of industrial vocals and beats, jazz signatures and black metal aesthetics” (Noisey), One One One ~ the final album from Shining’s “Blackjazz” trilogy ~ was mixed and co-produced by Sean Beaven (Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, Marilyn Manson). Munkeby described the release as “a series of jazz-metal hits with no fillers…definitely the catchiest and most immediate music we’ve ever recorded,” a claim verified by stunning accolades received from such notable publications as Pitchfork, Popmatters, Alarm, Decibel, Revolver and Terrorizer.

You can view their new video for “The One Inside,” part of Shining’s “Live on Location” series (where the band performs and records one-take live footage in weird, unorthodox and often uncontrollable surroundings), HERE.  Don’t forget to pick up a copy of One One One on CD or limited-edition vinyl (available in orange and black variants) from the Prosthetic webstore in North America HERE.
