Daughtry Acoustic Trio

Daughtry 1

By Seth M

Acoustic Daughtry, just like how it sounds, is Chris Daughtry, Brian Craddock, and Elvio Fernades stripped down and intimate. There was very little lighting, no merchandise (although many people were looking for it), and a short, hit-filled set.

Daughtry 2If you’re a Daughtry fan, then this was probably a show you would have liked. As someone commented, it was the Daughtry show for all the older fans who watched him on “American Idol” and hadn’t seen him since. I’d tend to agree as the crowd was much older than I would have expected ~ many audience members were well over 50. Could this be the reason the show was so short? I have no idea, but as someone who goes to MANY shows, I never understand how a headliner can show up and play less than a 90 minute set ~ yes, the Daughtry Acoustic Trio was scheduled for 1 hour and that’s what the audience got.

Granted, that one hour set included most of the Daughtry hits like “It’s Not Over,” “September,” and others. Throughout the show, Chris chatted with the audience, told little jokes and shared that they had just flown in from California. In an interesting twist and highlight, the trio played Grammy Nominated artists Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” in addition to “Waiting for  Superman,” their most recent Baptized release. The crowd seemed to enjoy the show although many did seem surprised when it ended (with fan favorite “Home”).  Daughtry isn’t currently on tour, but the Acoustic Daughtry Trio has a few radio shows and fill in dates ~ check out daughtryofficial.com for more information.
