Album Is Streaming Now Exclusively On RollingStone.com

Pretty Lights’ A Color Map of the Sun Remixes will be released on December 10.

RollingStone.com is premiering the album today. Fans can stream it here. The Remixes collection is a full-length re-imagination of A Color Map of the Sun. Derek Vincent Smith ~ aka Pretty Lights ~ invited producers from a wide stylistic spectrum to remix the tracks from his latest album.  Derek produced A Color Map… with no intention of having it be an album of dance floor bangers, but rather a collection of music that can be enjoyed anyplace, anytime, all the time.

These ‘Remixes’ are other artists’ interpretations of his compositions and self made vinyl samples. The tracks are mostly intended to be hard hitting, but they are also just very different. See the track list below for all artists involved in the Pretty Lights’ A Color Map of the Sun Remixes. Pandora, the leading internet radio service, will be streaming the album here beginning today at 6 p.m. PST and continuing through December 9.

A Color Map of the Sun Remixes will be available via iTunes, Beatport, Amazon and all other digital outlets. As with all Pretty Lights releases, the album will also be available in its entirety for download at no cost at prettylightsmusic.com. Since its conception in 2006, Pretty Lights has distributed more than 19 million album downloads at no cost to fans.

PRETTY LIGHTS2Rolling Stone praised A Color Map of the Sun as a “uniquely crafted, groove-centric head trip,” VIBE hailed it a “masterpiece” and Entertainment Weekly put the album on “The Must List.” To produce A Color Map of the Sun, Smith spent a year composing and recording music and vocals that emulated genres and time periods that spanned the last century, then pressed it to vinyl. He used that vinyl along with a massive custom built analog modular synth to create A Color Map of the Sun. The second disc of the double-CD set, entitled Live Studio Sessions From A Color Map of the Sun, contains 13 tracks from the recording sessions.

Pretty Lights performed the lead single “Around The Block,” with Talib Kweli on “Conan” and “Let’s Get Busy,” another track from the album, has been heard regularly during ESPN’s College Football coverage this season. Tracks from A Color Map of the Sun have racked up more than two million cumulative plays on SoundCloud. Over 167,000 downloads of A Color Map of the Sun and nearly 50,000 downloads of Live Sessions have been distributed via prettylightsmusic.com. Since the album’s release in July 2013, Pretty Lights has played 46 shows, hitting five countries and playing to more than 350,000 fans in a mixture of headline and festival performances.
