Front Row Pix: Overkill + Kreator @ Palladium in Worcester MA

The Legends Of Thrash tour descended upon Worcester, Massachusetts last Friday at the head end of their cross-country trek, and the FlashWounds team was there to witness the aural destruction.

Local band Rope opened with a short but solid metal set, soon followed by Warbringer who brought their special brand of manic metal in honor of their just-released album Warbringer IV: Empires Collapse. As soon as they started playing, the fans showed their appreciation by breaking out into a floor-wide circle pit which ended up lasting through the entire night.

Germany-based Kreator took up the stage next, delivering an incredibly tight set — perhaps unsurprising since they’ve been playing together for decades, but let me tell you they’re still at the top of their game and show no sign of slowing down.

After a longer-than-usual set change, Overkill finally came out — and came out LOUD, relentlessly shredding the Palladium song after song. Singer “Blitz” Ellsworth was in full vocal and physical form and the whole band gave us quite a show.

Clearly, “Legends Of Thrash” is the perfect name for this tour…
