Black Joe Lewis’ New Album Electric Slave Out Now

 Black Joe

Black Joe Lewis’ newest full-length LP is out today via Vagrant Records. Most of Electric Slave was produced by GRAMMY award winner Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power, Modest Mouse) and recorded at Church House Studios in Austin, TX. Three of the new tracks (“Skulldiggin,” “Dar Es Salaam,” “My Blood Ain’t Runnin’ Right”) were recorded and produced by John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, St. Vincent, Okkervil River) at Elmwood Studios in Dallas.

The album has received much acclaim so far, with Consequence of Sound saying “This professional outfit puts together incredibly tight blues rock, funk, soul, and more, all without missing a single beat” and the Boston Globe proclaiming, “Lewis and his backing quintet keep the heat on through 10 more garage-blues tunes that conjure Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, James Brown, and a youthful Rolling Stones.”
