The eleven songs on Speak A Little Louder were recorded in New York City and written by Birch along with collaborators including Aqualung frontman Matt Hales, Dap-Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss, and famed R&B singer Betty Wright. Eight songs on the album are produced by Homer Steinweiss. The deluxe version will feature five additional tracks.

Speak A Little Louder marks an undeniable creative evolution for Birch as she processed deep personal issues over the past four years including the death of her father and the break-up of a long term relationship. The album expresses a range from “soulful torch” (NY Times’ T Style) “All The Love You Got” to heartbreakingly hopeful “Unfkd.” The 11 tracks are emotionally inclusive, embracing Birch’s vulnerabilities and creating an artistic statement unlike anything she has recorded before.

Birch’s 2009 debut, Bible Belt led to performances on The Today Show and every major late night TV show, earning raves from The LA Times that celebrated Birch’s “rebellious spirit with a soulful bent” and BlackBook that proclaimed her “a knockout solo siren.”
