Anna Rose Returns with Behold a Pale Horse, Available August 6
“Old Soul.” The term defines someone who possesses wisdom and knowledge deeper than her chronological years. At first glance, Anna Rose might not appear to be an old soul; with her youth and pop-flavored upbringing (her father is Oscar-winning Disney composer Alan Menken), one might expect her to be singing dime-a-dozen, auto-tuned sugar pop. But with her powerful voice and timeless rock and roll songs, she defies expectations.
Behold a Pale Horse is full of 70s-inspired rock-n-roll tunes that range from straight ahead blues rockers to haunting piano ballads. Her versatility has never been clearer, and Behold a Pale Horse recalls everything from Little Feat to Tori Amos. Produced by Kevin Salem (Rachel Yamagata, Lenka), it follows Rose’s 2010 debut Nomad.
With recent features from Deli Magazine, Bust Magazine, Huffington Post, Diffuser FM and more, Anna Rose is an artist on the rise. Time Out New York calls her “…a splendid songstress who offers gusty, bluesy rock,” and Magnet Magazine praises her with, “Anna Rose, a singer/songwriter who brings to mind Tori Amos’ haunting vocals and has a distinct ’70s vibe had a childhood immersed in music history. Her refined-yet-vulnerable sound is one reason why she’s beloved by critics and listeners alike.” Like artists of that bygone era, Anna Rose knows showmanship. Experience the power of her live show this July and August.
The new video from the powerhouse album’s second single, “Beautiful World,” is out now. Check it out on Blastro here. Also view the enchanting video for title track “Behold a Pale Horse,” which already premiered exclusively via Nylon Magazine.
