Front Row Pix: Holy Grail @ Great Scott, Allston MA

Allston got a good and proper thrashing this week as Holy Grail stopped by Great Scott to show us what’s what. The FlashWounds team caught their all-too-short set earlier this summer at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival and had been left wanting a lot more, and let me tell ya folks, it was worth the wait.
The show opened with local metallers Descend Upon The Sane, whose great energy set the tone early. They were followed by Black Mass (also hailing from Boston) who delivered a heavy, scorching set.
Holy Grail then took the stage and rocked us within an inch of our lives. These guys have it all — great songwriting, stellar vocals, a really tight band and stage presence to rival any I’ve seen. Keep your eyes — and ears! — on these guys… they’re just getting started.
These guys are GREAT…you can’t fake intensity and stage presence like that, it comes from the soul…I hope the band takes over the hard rock/metal world and reminds people that it’s not just about volume and profanity…it’s passion and talent and dedication and (as a former acting coach of mine used to advise) “..feeling it, not trying to show it, and then it will come across twice and powerful and twice as authentic.” Long live Holy Grail!!
