- Five Finger Death Punch’s “Lift Me Up’”(featuring Rob Halford of Judas Priest) debuted at #18 first week on Active Rock, the highest single debut at radio for the band in their career so far. - Premier Guitar recently spoke to Children Of Bodom’s frontman/guitarist Alexi Laiho about the recording sessions for the band’s eighth studio album, Halo Of Blood (due out in North America on June 11th), the inspiration provided by his guitar heroes, and why he’s finally retired his Lee Jackson preamp. - Recently, melodic death metal legion Amon Amarth revealed a trailer for their forthcoming mini-documentary. Fittingly titled Forging Mjölnir, the short film will appear as a three-part series, with each official segment slated to premiere via the band’s microsite.
- Motionless In White has premiered a new lyric video for their single “America,” off of their latest album Infamous. Check out the video and make sure to catch them on the Musicians Institute Stage this summer!
- This week, Butcher Babies announced a July 9th release date for their upcoming album Goliath on Century Media Records. The Los Angeles-based band wrapped their tour with Marilyn Manson in late February and went straight into the studio with producer Josh Wilbur (Gojira, Lamb Of God, Hatebreed). Forget everything you think you know about the Butcher Babies, because they’ve got their sights set to slay on Goliath.
- War of Will, the sophomore album from Detroit, MI’s Battlecross, will be in stores on July 9th. You’ve seen them on tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, and more, now see them bring the Mayhem all summer!
- Jill Janus of Huntress will be hosting the Jagermeister Shred-Meister guitar competition all summer long. Festival attendees can go to the Jagermeister tents on site and audition for a chance to shred for 10 seconds on the main stage. Each day, one of the 10 finalists will win a custom Jägermeister guitar from Schecter and the overall winner at the end of the tour will win a custom Jägermeister full stack and head courtesy of Peavey Electronics. Huntress revealed their Like You To Death campaign which in turn revealed a new song from their upcoming album Starbound Beast (in stores July 2.) Artists performing this year include main stage metal and horror legend, festival closer Rob Zombie plus the triple gold certified Five Finger Death Punch and a monster lineup that includes additional main stage bands Mastodon and Amon Amarth. The festival area is led by stage closers Children Of Bodom and Machine Head as well as Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy, Emmure, Born Of Osiris, Motionless In White, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, Huntress, Thrown Into Exile and City In The Sea.
The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will stop in 26 cities across the United States and Canada as it makes its way to the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas, Texas on August 4th, 2013.
