The Guy Behind the Camera ~ Meet Seth M., Newest Member of The Flashwounds Team

Velvet Revolver ~ Rock on The Range, 2007

Actually, I’m the guy behind the camera and the guy behind the screen, since I’m a photographer and a writer.  Well, I am sure I could make myself sound terribly Zombie2exciting and do some major name dropping, but the reality is I happen to be a guy who grew up on Long Island, loved all kinds of music, worked in a record store briefly and then got a job at a rock club. Yep, I was a stage hand turned stage manager who then happened to learn about lighting. I was pretty young in those days and as I got older I went off to college in order to get that “real job” none of us dream about but a lot of us have anyway.

When I was home, though, I would work shows around the Northeast while some of my friends from the early club days were off touring the world.Travel

Although my friends’ jobs seemed exciting and glamorous, it also seemed that I was destined to remain in the “real world” ~ but I still loved music, I’d been to hundreds (and now probably thousands) of concerts, knew what went into putting on a concert, and always wanted to travel. Seemed pretty logical that I should take some time to travel, and when I did I grabbed a camera (yup, I had a crappy camera I used in Europe to thank for getting me started in photography).

I used to joke that someday I would write a book and whenever I was traveling I would send my friends these crazy travelogues. As I began travelling more, I started to try to coordinate the timing with some cool festival or show whenever I could. Eventually, it dawned on me that I might just be able to combine all these loves ~ travel, music and photography ~ into one, with a little writing thrown in.  I began shooting concerts and festivals throughout the US ~ Tempe Music Festival, Rock on The Range, Austin City Limits, Voodoo Festival, Virgin Mobile, All Points West, FarmAid, and many others.

Along with my travelogues, I would do some concert, festival, and CD reviews here and there, and before I knew it, I’d had a bunch of my photos and reviews  published in various outlets over the years.

In between the festivals at home and abroad,  I would do my best to shoot not only big-name acts like The Who, ColdPlay, U2, Rush, Jay-Z, and more, but also local acts and friends.

OK, so skipping ahead a little…here I am at FLASHWOUNDS, where I hope to keep combining all those loves in one place for my enjoyment, sure, but more so for yours…  If you like what I have to say or show you through my lens, cool ~ and if you hate it, feel free to let me know as I am open to criticism; it keeps life interesting…

Lastly, if you run into me somewhere in the world of Travel, Music or Photography, say hello (only if you like me )…
