The 7th Annual Summer Slaughter Tour Line-up Announced!

Summer SlaughterThe most extreme tour of the year has returned with its most devastating and anticipated line-up yet. The 7th annual Summer Slaughter Tour, presented by Indie Merch Store, ESP and Guitar World, is now officially slated to run from July 19th through August 24th. It features heavyweights including The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, The Ocean, Revocation, Aeon and two bands TBA. Stay tuned over the coming weeks for official tour dates to be announced.

One of the remaining open slots will be chosen by you, the fans, so be sure to click on the link below to get in your vote now. The voting ends on March 31st, at 11:59pm. We think you should vote for Metal Blade Records artists Abiotic HERE, but that’s just us. :)

Cattle Decapitation (Editor’s note ~ despite the band’s name, they are great guys and very much against animal cruelty ~ which is good for so many reasons, among them the fact that FW does not endorse, support, or think very kindly of anyone who approves of/engages in cruelty towards animals) vocalist Travis Ryan gets the excitement going with, “We are very happy to be asked back to the Summer Slaughter tour. The first SS tour was the best US tour we’ve ever done and we look forward to helping devastate the states with our take on brutal, grinding death and playing the choicest slabs from our latest album Monolith of Inhumanity. Who’s “ripe for the slaughter!?!?” See you this summer!”
SS Aeons back

Daniel Dlimi of Aeon  comments, “Yes, we are finally going to tour the US and we are really fucking stoked about it to say the least. And there couldn’t possibly be any better way to do so than to be a part of the Summer Slaughter Tour. And with today’s line-up and our latest release “Aeons Black” we stand stronger than ever and will treat you with some real death metal. See you on the road.”

Ash Avildsen, founder of Summer Slaughter, weighs in on this year’s edition of the tour with, “It’s year seven and I think 2013’s line-up is the most exciting and diverse yet. Slaughter has never been a one dimensional experience for fans. This year is a true testament to that as we have an amazing mix of extreme music’s influential icons and leaders of the new school. Let the underground unite!”

Greg Puciato (DEP vocalist) tells all the fans, “We can’t wait to get back on the road! We’re launching a US tour in the spring, hitting Europe for some festivals and club shows, and then hitting several more cities with Summer Slaughter all summer long. We are absolutely amped. After being holed up in the studio for such a long time giving birth to One of Us is the Killer, we are all pent up and ready to share material new and old with our supporters doing what we love to do the most. Can’t wait to see and either kiss or rip off each and every one of your faces on the road with Summer Slaughter and year round, everywhere.”

Shawn Keith, tour co-producer, sums it up with: “Let the Slaughter begin!”

THIS JUST IN ~ A MESSAGE FROM AEON FROM THEIR OFFICIAL WEBSITE:

Tony Ostman, New Bass Player of Aeon

ss tony“Marcus has decided to leave Aeon permanently to focus more on his other band Souldrainer. Aeon will be having a more busy tour schedule from now on and Marcus feels that Aeon is taking too much of his time. We have been having a guy named Tony Östman as a stand-in for Marcus lately, and he did his first show with us on March 1st at the House Of Metal festival. Tony was also planned to act as a stand-in on the G/A/S Obscura-tour that kicks off tomorrow (March 22). But since Marcus obviously needs a stand-in from time to time to fill his shoes, we and Marcus came to a conclusion that it’s better for him to step down and let Tony take his position permanently. Aeon is not a side project and we need all members to aim at the same goal and to have Aeon as the main band / project. So with this we would like to thank Marcus for his time in the band and we wish him all the best with his future endeavors. And with that being said, let’s raise our horns high and welcome Tony Östman on-board as the permanent bass player of Aeon.”
