Radiation City Takes Covers to a Whole New Level

By Jane Croft

Sometimes the word “cover” can raise a suspicious eyebrow.  It’s like hitting the dating scene after being in sucky relationship for a couple of years ~ you’re almost expecting to find nothing of any substance but you reluctantly go anyway.  Luckily, Radiation City is helping us say “Yes!” to covers with the release of their latest, “Fly Me to the Moon.”  Sure, it’s a bold move to summon the stylings of Frank Sinatra, but you’ve got to take a listen to them HERE.

Portland, OR’s Radiation City has spent the past few years turning heads with their irresistible, genre-bending sound. Combining modern electronic elements with classic styles, the band has received accolades from fans and the press alike, recently landing a spot on NPR’s list of “10 Artists You Should Have Known in 2012.”

After releasing a buzzed-about debut album and a critically acclaimed EP, the quintet is now gearing up to hit the road for the month of March, bringing their explosive live show to audiences across the West coast and Midwest.

Known for making unconventional creative decisions ~ including releasing their EP on a USB drive connected to piano keys from a piano destroyed by the band and covering Outkast’s The Love Below in full ~ Radiation City has yet another unique treat to share. The band recorded their own version of the classic “Fly Me To The Moon,” turning it into a dreamy tune with smooth, sultry vocals, a bossa nova beat, and an otherworldly solo. It’s so good, it’s a little eerie.  Or it’s a little eerie, so it’s really good.  Decide for yourself…
