Alabama Shakes Announce Summer North American Headline Tour

Alabama Shakes will kick off a North American headline tour on June 18 at LC Pavilion Outdoors in Columbus, OH. The outing will include two nights at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium (July 17 & 18). A ticket pre-sale is underway HERE. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. For further details, visit the band’s official website. The band wraps up its spring headline tour this Saturday, March 16, and will head to Latin America later this month for a series of shows, including performances at Lollapalooza in Brazil and Chile. Alabama Shakes will also play numerous summer festivals, including Firefly in Dover, DE, London’s Hard Rock Calling and the Calgary Folk Music Festival. In the weeks following the GRAMMY® Awards and the band’s appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and “Austin City Limits,” Alabama Shakes’ debut album, Boys & Girls (ATO Records), sold 100,000 additional copies. “Hold On” was voted the #1 Best Song of 2012 by Rolling Stone. The accompanying video has more than five million views and is in “Large” rotation at VH1. The track is featured on the 2013 GRAMMY Nominees compilation. “Always Alright” is included prominently in The Weinstein Company’s Oscar-nominated Silver Linings Playbook, which stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Chris Tucker, and can be found exclusively on the film’s soundtrack. The band’s recently released iTunes session is available now HERE. Howard teamed up with Ruby Amanfu for a new single, which was produced by Jack White. The pair offers their interpretation of “I Wonder,” originally performed by Sixto Rodriguez, subject of the Oscar-winning Searching For Sugar Man, on Side A and duet on Memphis Minnie’s “When My Man Comes Home” on Side B. The single is now available on Third Man Records. Alabama Shakes ~ vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, drummer Steve Johnson and bassist Zac Cockrell ~ are based in Athens, AL. The group was named Best Touring Band at the Pollstar Awards, Emerging Artist of the Year at the Americana Music Association’s Honors and Awards ceremony and Best New Artist of the Year at the Triple A radio conference.
