International Women’s Day received a special bonus this year when singer-songwriter Elin Ruth premiered her new music video for “Bang” today on The Huffington Post.  The Swedish bombshell is currently spotlighted in their “On Our Radar” series which features different up-and-coming artists who are on the brink of blowing up. The single is the first from Elin’s self-titled album released on January 29, 2013 via her own record label, Divers Avenue Music.

“Releasing the video today on International Women’s Day is a way for me to send some love and inspiration to commemorate all the strong and amazing women out there in the world,” explains Elin.

Directed and produced by Michael McQuilken (whose work also includes “The Bed Song” by Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra), the video was shot using 200 fresh pancakes and portrays the self-liberation of a woman tearing off her fake fingernails and picking up her guitar.  For anyone who has ever worked at removing those damn press-ons, we feel you, Elin!  And we thank you!

Following four celebrated records, numerous award nominations and a dozen chart hits (including a #1 album and two Swedish Grammy nods) in her native Sweden, Elin Ruth dropped everything to move across the Atlantic to New York City with the intent of sparking her creativity with a change in her surroundings.

Elin RuthShe takes the listener on the emotional journey through her eclectic album, which was named a Top 10 Music Pick by New York Daily Times.

“It’s my most personal record to date,” says Elin. “It was a nice challenge to go into the studio and create something on my own. The knowledge that no one could change anything made me feel very free and creative.”

Elin Ruth is available now on iTunes and Amazon. Eager fans can also still download her free sampler for a short time only on NoiseTrade.com.
