Wardruna Release Live Video Footage and Debuts Track from Upcoming Album

WardrunaViking neo-folk collective Wardruna have released live video footage from their recent performance at Castlefest in Lisse, Netherlands. The video, which can be viewed HERE, features a magical performance of the track “Helvegen” off of their upcoming album Yggdrasil.

The album, the second chapter of the band’s planned “Runaljod” trilogy (a musical interpretation of the runes of the elder futhark), will be available on April 2 in North America, March 15 in Norway and March 25 throughout mainland Europe. You can pre-order a copy of Yggdrasil directly at the Indie Merch webstore HERE. A special edition digibook, which also includes a unique bronze necklace and a 32-page booklet filled with extra artwork, translated lyrics, and further reading on the Runes concept, is also available in limited quantities HERE

Featuring vocals by God Seed/ex-Gorgoroth singer Gaahl, Wardruna, whose music is currently featured on several episodes of the History Channel’s newest series “Vikings,” will be seen later this month at the annual Inferno Festival in Switzerland, where they’ll play alongside bands including Anaal Nathrakh, Primoridial, Dark Funeral, My Dying Bride and Aura Noir. They will also make their U.S. debut at the pagan/doom-focused Stella Natura Festival held in California’s Tahoe National Forest later this year.
