Ride the Musical Wave That Is Millionyoung

Maybe it’s because he’s from Florida where the mix of sun, sand and sea have the power to create the perfect ambiance for chill wave music. But regardless, there’s no denying that Millionyoung, (musical artist Mike Diaz) knows how to construct songs that inspire landscapes of the mind.
He first rode onto the indie electronica scene with a series of EPs before releasing his debut full-length, Replicants, in 2011. With the recent release of his album Variable via Rix Records/Old Flame Records, Millionyoung is growing in popularity and notoriety. The new album comes right off last summer’s Amanecer re-release which included the brand new tracks “Recess,” “Albedo,” and “Mien (Revisited).”
Millionyoung has explained the deceptive simplicity of his song “Lovin’” by sharing that it really is a love song about a girl that he just couldn’t get out of his mind ~ a universal theme that is the perfect pop song inspiration.
The opening lines of the song ~ “Oh I can’t forget you / You are always on my mind / And every time I see you / I lose all track of time” ~ are wrapped in the warm blankets of synth and guitar work. “It was a lot of fun, sort of a different approach than I usually do. I was really digging into soul music while working on this record, and it’s probably most present in this song,” says Diaz, “so consider this your good vibes pick-up to usher in the weekend.” The track and its good vibes do indeed nudge you into a great mood where positive vibes fall from the sky and grow on trees.
