Popular London-based independent record label Xtra Mile Recordings, a label celebrating its 10-year anniversary in April 2013 and whose current UK and European roster includes popular bands and artists such as Against Me!, Frank Turner, Future Of The Left, Tim Barry, Dave Hause, Vinnie Caruana, The Xcerts and others, is proud to announce its North American presence with the release of the Cheltenham, UK-based quartet Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun’s new single “England’s Dead.” Available now on iTunes, “England’s Dead” is another illustration of the young band’s vast sound that draws from a plethora of influences, which include alt-country, folk and punk.

Xtra miles

Recently signed to Xtra Mile Recordings and championed by label mate and folk-punk icon Frank Turner, who will be releasing his fifth studio album in April through Xtra Mile Recordings and Interscope, Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun has enjoyed its fair share of early success. Last year the band was named one of NME‘s “Bands To Watch,” performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX, and released the eagerly-awaited follow up to 2010’s Atlases to critical acclaim and airplay on BBC Radio 1. “England’s Dead” can be streamed via SoundCloud HERE and purchased via iTunes HERE.

In addition to the release of the single, Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun will be making a number of North American appearances during March. Beginning, Monday, March 4 at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, the band began supporting Dropkick Murphys on their current headlining tour.
