Step into the Other-Worldly World of White Prism

Please be warned ~ wherever singer White Prism (Johanna Cranitch) treads, intoxicating music follows close behind. Suspend all disbelief, don’t be surprised if solid objects to take on surreal glows, and if you see any of the creatures from Narnia, just offer them Turkish Delight. In other words, be prepared for magic when White Prism releases her self-titled EP on April 9th.
From her early upbringing in the esteemed Kodaly school of music to the Gregorian chants that her father, a former priest-in-training, brought to the table, this Australian-born artist was encouraged to take the stage by her music-loving parents. She was gracing the halls of the Sydney Opera House at the tender age of 9 and performing with the Opera Australia Children’s Chorus. But opera was merely the beginning for this pop loving songstress. Her love of Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, and Wham! would soon take her down the path of dreamy, electro-pop songwriting.
White Prism moved to NYC as a young adult and found herself as a studio engineer at the prestigious Nola Recording Studios. It was during her time at Nola that she began writing and recording over 300 demos. These demos would eventually lead her to her first album and the shimmering sounds of her former project, Johanna and the Dusty Floor. They also landed her a world tour with The Cranberries and a performance at Autre Magazine’s Paris launch.
The new EP promises to be just as hauntingly beautiful as White Prism’s other work. Listen to “Lover’s Dream” to experience the echoes of her gentle vocals surrounding you with lyrics that are filled to the brim with quiet vulnerability.
