Violent Vickie Releases Debut LP Monster Alley on March 1st & Announces Tour Dates
“Do you like electro-punk, multimedia projections, drum machines, dancing, violence, queers, queer activism, no wave, new wave, Le Tigre, Lady Gaga, Glass Candy, Miss Kitten, real kittens, poetry, lipstick, spandex, baby-doll dresses, heels, sparkles, combat boots, the color pink, drugs, or feminism? If you’ve said yes to two or more of these, then you should probably go to this show by these two new electro artists from San Francisco. “ ~ Seattle Stranger

RIYL: Le Tigre, Peaches, Glass Candy
San Francisco-based electro-punk artist Violent Vickie assaults your eardrums with her seductive vocals, hypnotic synth loops and uncompromising drum machine beats. She sweetly sings provocative socio-political lyrics drenched in riot grrrl rebellion and tongue-in-cheek cynicism on her debut LP, Monster Alley, due out on March 1st.
Monster Alley ingeniously disguises Violent Vickie’s feminist political agendas in 11 dance-’til-you-die songs. In the introductory track “Drugs,” she croons, “…you ain’t got to worry when you got drugs” with a strung-out detachment to a uptempo, diamond-hard beat, while the ironically lascivious “Come and Run” concerns a bad sexual experience and “The Scientist” takes a critical look at the pharmaceutical industry. Following in the footsteps of the iconic electropop band Le Tigre, Violent Vickie breathes a new punk rock ethos into electronic music.
Accompanied by Tyler Holmes on synth, her live shows are a multisensory experience, featuring electrifying psychedelic images. Recently, Violent Vickie toured with Hanin Elias of Atari Teenage Riot and has shared the stage with many other bands including Joey Casio, Mika Miko, No Babies, Scream Club and Nicky Click. She will embark on a mini-tour of the South in March.
